Our school provides free, high-quality education to underprivileged young girls. The curriculum follows the guidelines of the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports of Cambodia, with additional classes to offer a full-day educational experience.
We emphasize mathematics and science, with initiatives like the Girls and Science project and e-learning (Chandara Academy). Beyond the national curriculum, we offer health studies, foreign languages (Chinese, English, French), and extra-curricular activities.
In primary school, over 500 students benefit from education and care throughout the day. The Bilingual Programme (Khmer and English) was introduced in 2021.
In secondary and high schools, students focus on project-based learning in science subjects, while career counselling starts from grade 7. Our school has consistently achieved a 100% pass rate in the grades 9 and 12 national exams.
At Happy Chandara School, our English department embodies pedagogical excellence through innovative teaching methodologies and well-equipped classrooms in both the General English and Bilingual programmes. We foster a professional yet convivial atmosphere for our teachers and help students cultivate interpersonal skills, improving their employment prospects. Our team consists of passionate, highly qualified educators from diverse cultural backgrounds, creating a rich learning environment. We also provide IELTS classes to broaden students’ academic prospects abroad and work closely with parents to further enrich this dynamic educational environment.
Launched in 2021, the Bilingual Programme at Happy Chandara School has become a key factor in fostering intellectual growth and English proficiency, opening more doors to future scholarship opportunities. This programme aligns our pupils’ achievements with international standards, empowering them to pursue higher education and reach for the stars.
The SECA Department is dedicated to nurturing students’ physical and mental well-being, while fostering well-roundedness through a wide range of activities within and outside the school. This is achieved through four main missions:
Physical Education & Arts: implemented in alignment with the Sports Curriculum from MoEYS and the Bilingual Programme.
Weekend Activities: for students interested in sports, music, and other recreational pursuits.
Summer Camp: curated to offer students the chance to acquire new skills and nurture their self-confidence, emotional intelligence, and passion for sports, arts, sciences, and the environment.
Excursions: organized to explore Cambodia’s culture, providing opportunities for developing social and life skills through interactions with nature and communities.
The OSM department was created to develop students’ competencies so they become Global Citizens. Through four programs, we equip them with the knowledge and skills needed for their present and future.
OSM (Opening Students’ Minds/Ouverture sur le Monde): A pioneering programme initiated by Tina Kieffer, focusing on six core subjects. It uses project-based learning to develop problem-solving, critical thinking, creativity, and leadership.
ICT (Information and Communication Technology): Covers basic computer skills, Google applications, and coding linked to robotics, AI, and STEM, ensuring students’ technological proficiency for professional and communicative needs.
Solidarity Project: Focuses on community development through initiatives like the Biblio Book Truck, supporting children at our boarding school, the Cinema Project, and the Green Community Project.
Library: A self-access centre for reading and researching, fostering independent learning.
The Social Department comprises the Social Unit and the School Life Unit. Our primary goal is to provide social services to support over 1000 families each year, focusing on improving student discipline, preventing dropouts, and fostering positive community relationships. Each year, we select 100 vulnerable girls for our Kindergarten Program.
We assist families in supporting their children’s education through initiatives like monthly food distribution, healthcare support, transportation assistance, psychoeducation, housing projects, and training for students and families. We also provide boarding school assessments and meet other specific needs.
We offer supplementary education to boys from HCS families and public schools, with Saturday classes in mathematics, Khmer language, and sports. Our approach involves collaboration with both internal and external stakeholders to ensure access to optimal services.
Every year, we build and renovate houses affected by climate change and violent monsoons. Through our SOS Houses Project, we have built 50 new homes and renovated 32 existing ones, aiming to provide sustainable, secure living environments for our students and their families.
At Happy Chandara School, our commitment includes providing essential healthcare services to both our students and their families. Many students had never received dental care, were rarely vaccinated, and some suffered from malnourishment.
Our medical team includes:
Psychologists: addressing mental health, anxiety, and emotional well-being.
A doctor, nurses, midwife, and a reproductive health educator: conducting annual check-ups, treating physical ailments, and delivering sexual education.
A dentist and dental assistants: providing dental check-ups, X-rays, treating diseases, performing extractions, and educating on dental hygiene.
We also host humanitarian missions catering to specific healthcare needs, including ophthalmological care by Pour les Yeux du Monde, dermatological care with Bioderma, gynaecological care by Actions Santé Femmes, and osteopathic care from Hattha Vichesas.
